Hearing the Divine Voice Within: A Path to Awakening

There are moments in life that change us forever. For me, one of those moments came in the most ordinary of settings. As I was sitting quietly, reading a book, I thought I was simply taking in words on a page, but suddenly, something shifted. I realized I was no longer the one doing the reading. Instead, the words were being spoken to me from within, slowed down, emphasized, and wrapped in a clarity I had never experienced before.

That was the first time I consciously experienced hearing the divine voice within.

It wasn’t a booming or dramatic voice from the heavens. It was subtle, intimate, and deeply personal. The message wasn’t about grandeur; they were about awakening, reminding me of what I already knew but had forgotten. That experience planted a seed within me, one that would grow as I leaned into the silence, trusted the process, and continued to listen.

When the Voice Returns

Not long after that first moment, I began journaling again. As my pen touched the paper, the words no longer felt like mine alone. Instead, I found myself writing in verse, flowing beautifully and lyrically, unlike anything I had written before. It was as if the Divine whispered directly through me, shaping each phrase.

Those writings eventually became my second book, The Way We Go, a collection of spiritual wisdom wrapped in unconditional love.

That is the nature of Divine communication. It is not bound by logic or expectation; rather, it shows up when we are willing to quiet the chatter and open the door with intent.

God Still Speaks: Hearing the Divine Voice Within Today

Many people wonder whether God, Spirit, or the Divine still speaks today. My answer is always the same: yes, absolutely. The Divine voice has never left us. It is ever-present, woven into the fabric of our being. The real question is not whether the voice exists, but whether we are willing to hear it.

Have you ever felt a gentle nudge telling you to call someone, and when you do, you discover they needed you in that exact moment? Have you ever heard a whisper of reassurance when doubt clouded your mind? That is the Divine at work. Sometimes the voice is a whisper. Other times it is a firm push. But always, it is guided by love.

The Key Is Not Learning, but Remembering

So often, people ask me: How can I learn to hear the Divine?

My response is that you don’t need to learn something new. You simply need to remember what has always been there. Deep within your heart center, the connection is alive. We are born with it. Over time, noise, distractions, and fear drown it out. The practice is not about adding something; it is about stripping away the clutter so you can hear clearly again.

Silence is sacred. Intent is the doorway. When you combine the two, you create the space where Divine wisdom can reach you.

Preparing to Listen

If you want to hear the Divine voice more clearly, start with these simple but powerful steps:

  1. Set Your Intention. Decide ahead of time that you are open to receiving guidance. You might set this intention the night before or moments before you sit in silence. Something as simple as, “I am open to hearing the Divine voice within,” is enough.

  2. Choose Your Space. Find a place of stillness where you feel safe and relaxed. It could be a quiet room, a spot under the trees, or near the ocean. What matters is not the location itself, but that it feels peaceful to you.

  3. Engage in a Sacred Practice. Begin by reading something uplifting, reflecting on a verse, or journaling from your heart center. These practices open the channel and allow your spirit to soften into receptivity.

  4. Release the Outcome. The voice may come the first time you try, or it may come after many times. It does not matter. Do not chase the result. Simply trust that when the time is right, it will happen.

  5. Listen Without Doubt. When the voice comes, you will know. It may not be dramatic, but it will be undeniable. The resonance within your spirit is the confirmation.

The Profound Blessing

When you experience hearing the divine voice within, you realize it is not just about receiving words. It is about the deep assurance that you are not alone, that you are guided, and that unconditional love surrounds you always.

Your message may be different from mine. It may be encouragement, direction, comfort, or simply a reminder of love. What matters is not the form it takes, but that it reaches you in the exact way you need.

A Lifelong Conversation

Since that first experience, I have continued to cultivate the practice of listening. Each time, I am reminded that the Divine voice is not a one-time event but an ongoing conversation. The more I create space, the more naturally it flows.

This is not reserved for special people. It is available to you, to everyone. The Divine longs to speak with you, guide you, and remind you of your own inner light.

All it asks in return is that you slow down, be still, and open your heart.

Your Turn to Listen

So I ask you today: are you willing to step into silence and open yourself to this conversation? Not with pressure or expectation, but with curiosity and trust.

If you do, you may discover that the words you’ve been longing to hear are already waiting within you.

Your Divine message is waiting.

Until we meet again, keep listening to your heart. It always knows the way.
